My Maldivian Experience

I would like to share with you my experience when I went to Maldives last February. I really had a great time and enjoyed my stay on this beautiful island. It was one of my favourite getaways, and I am looking forward to repeat it once again this year.

The Journey

To begin with, Maldives is an island that is about twenty minutes away from Mali. In order for you to get to Maldives you have to first land on Mali’s International Airport. I recommend you to book on Etihad airways because I really enjoyed my journey with them from Kuwait to Abu Dhabi then directly to Mali. Everything was great and the flight was so relaxing. Once you land on Mali airport from there you can go by a small plane to the islands in Maldives or there is another option where you can go by a boat, but it takes around an hour to reach your island.

Accommodation

Take a look of how the Over Water Pool Villa looks like.

The best hotel to book at is called Anantara Kihavah. Anantara Kihavah is a luxuries place where you can enjoy the great escape. I recommend that you take the Over Water Pool Villa were you can look at the sea under you even inside the bathrooms. There are three different kind of showers, one outside the bathroom, the other is a normal shower, and the third is a bath tub which is visible from beneath and you can see the baby sharks swimming under you. I would advice you to reward yourself once your there by visiting the Spa and having a moment of peace by yourself.

This is the breathtaking view of the bathroom from inside; you can see that it’s so relaxing.

Activities to follow:

  •      Fishing
  •      Canoeing
  •      Diving
  •      Kayaking
  •      Snorkeling
  •      Windsurfing
  •      Tennis
  •      Yoga

These were the best water sports activities I tried during my stay.

Restaurants

This is an Asian restaurant, one of Maldives best cuisines.

There are 6 kinds of restaurants; you can also book your own private dining by reservation. My birthday dinner was so special for me because it was arranged as a private dinner and I had so much fun enjoying the great hospitality I had from the restaurant. However, I highly recommend you to eat at the restaurant, which is called “Salt” for the people who love Asian food. The shrimp tempuras are to die for!!!

Take a quick glance at this video! I hope you enjoy it...
